UP COMING BATTLEFIELD TOURS
Posted: Tue Jun 14, 2016 9:47 pm
Notes for your diary. I plan to organise the following 3 battlefield tours: Brief outline.
FROM DEFEAT TO VICTORY Summer 2017
The tour starts at Dunkirk where we look at the desperate defence to enable as many troops as possible to be evacuated.
The forgotten landing. Dieppe
D Day Beaches and Para Drops
Marville Battery
Optional visit to St. Nazaire and the U-boat Pens
The village of Oradour-Sur-Glane. Preserved in time as France's permanent memorial.
WW1 BATTLEFIELD TOUR; AN ACT OF REMEMBRANCE (part 1) Summer 2018
In this Centenary year of the end of 'The Great War' I plan to do two tours. This one covering the final year of the War, looking at how the October Recolution nearly brought victory to the German Army. A visit to Mont Sec and St. Mihiel where we take a look that the role of the 'Doughboys'. The last night will be at the Last Post in Ypres.
WW1 BATTLEFIELD TOUR. AN ACT OF REMEMBRANCE (Part 2) November 2018
Depending on numbers this trip will be shorter and all I will say is that at 11 am on the 11th November we will be laying a Club Wreath on one of the Trench Lines in Belgium followed by a return to Ypres.
All of the above are done for the members of the MT Riders Club. The final two due to their significance are open to none club members. As long as their bike can keep up with the pace!!
Please post interest below.
