Alps or bust

Well I've made it to Cambrai (France). Heading for Geneva. It's amazing how many noises my engine makes, I'd never noticed before, must be paranoia. No breakdown cover. Hope she holds together. Thought I spoke French, guess they speak a different version round here. As for being vegetarian, it doesn't translate. Wanted to lose weight anyway.

Hi BFC
When will you be crossing the Alps ? When did you set off ? What's the weather like ?
Good luck and ride safe.

Hi BFC,
You won't notice the engine noises when after enough miles you start talking to yourself and even less so when you don't agree anymore
.
Have a great trip.
Steve.

Got to Verdun. No sleep hole yet. Whole day on a ferry sandwich. Set off yesterday. Typing on phone a bit shaky. Need to learn how to upload photo on a phone. Bike good so far, but am sure tappets getting louder.

Tonight I am in Switzerland, to celebrate getting here I will use the tent (last night was spent in a bivvy bag in a field of Xmas trees, on a slope that I started the night at the top of, but by morning... well you can guess). Bit concerned the swiss will fine me for having a dirty motorbike, or even for flattening the grass maybe.

Luzern. Incredibly hot, not a cloud in the sky. Won't upload photos again. Don't know why (may need WiFi?) . Bikers friendly & wave. No litter anywhere. Everyone very polite. But it's expensive. One rattle noise that was bothering me came from mirror.

Got a bit of a clud-clud in low gear, similar to the feeling of putting in gear, slipping & then when the clutch locks. Guessing its backlash in the balancer gear, but not had it before. It's as if its clunking in & out if gear. Anyone know what this is? Help appreciated, but other than careful clutch control not sure what else to do, so suggestions welcome.
