Re: West Yorks Greenlaning outing MARCH 4th
Cheers guys ... I've got plans to get the post office to bubble wrap me for the next one or buy a giant hamster ball ... Richard advised an off road course run by i2i and I've booked myself on it for when i get back from the run led by DSG through Wales. No substitute for experience but given my absolute lack of skill, I thought it might be an idea to get the basics nailed and then follow up with the have another go method. Down side to this is that bubble wrap is bloody expensive .. need to buy a ton of crap off ebay and cover myself in padded envelopes instead ... the stuff Jacob's crackers are packed into is my fall back option or I could try an old duvet.

Taking the skiing analogy, if a leader took a snowplougher onto a black run, he wouldn't keep his licence and in some countries could end up in court. Ability levels, snow conditions, and weather should all have an influence on the route selected. To be fair you were thrown in the deep end with that first black run lane.
Ride safe

Oh dear Eric, perhaps I should have Steve D. use his H & S knowledge to prepare a risk assessment before my C to C run!!.....................and whilst he's at it sample the brews to make certain they are up to strength.

Re: West Yorks Greenlaning outing MARCH 4th
Hello
I have managed to crawl to my PC, all battered and bruised, my body aching everywhere.
The leg is fine, the injuries sustained from the wife, well that’s a different matter.
Thanks to everyone that’s posted their concerns over the treatment of the bike.
Thanks lads!
Apparently Baldrick is Welsh!! As I type he is happily tucked up in a barn with a load of lonely sheep and reluctant to come home.
Very disappointed that I didn’t get a flight in a helicopter, didn’t even get blues and twos on the Ambulance.
However having your trousers ripped off in the back by his rather nice paramedic was a bonus.
Throughout I was not in pain, just uncomfortable. (I even resisted a suck on the entinox).
At one stage I was hoping that it was just a bad sprain but no luck there.
The tibia is broken very close to the ankle. As far as breaks go it is not a bad one so should heal without too much problems.
They stuck me a temporary, open back, cast on till the swelling goes down.
I know that’s happening as my leg is now rattling around in the cast and I can feel the bone moving.
I will be going into the local hors spittle tomorrow to get a better one fitted.
This mishap has put a block on my planned trip to Wooton Basset Ride of Respect.
Does anyone want my registration stuff?
It’s booked for the 10:00 arrival, same as lots more from the site.
I have already paid the Ă‚ÂŁ10 donation for you but feel free if you want to give them more.
PM me if you do. First come gets it. I will also offer this on the relevant thread.
Got to go,Time to put my legup (after I have Made SWMBO a cup of tea).

Thats two of us in foot cast's now that can't ride in Wooton Basset we should start a club
Was glad when had my first cast cut off and given an inflatable footballer style cast - great to be able to get at the itch's - and have a bath with both legs in the water!
Hope you heal up soon

Well what a day you all had!
Sorry to hear about your leg Richard. Hope you feel better soon.
Great pics of the day though.
We were up at 6.30 ready to get the bikes out when the heavens opened and it's not often I would say this but glad we wimped out, especially with Gemma's more road biased tyres
It looked like a challenging day all round so good on you all for persevering
I think a gentler introduction to 'green laning' is in order so looking forward to info coming about next meet.

If you like we could take you around some more gentle green run lanes that can be done on road bias tyres. In fact about 80% of em are very easy in the dry
