Count me in on this one.
Dates not a problem for me.
I agree an extra few days is a good idea
How about finding a chalet in say two locations as base camps ?
This really worked well for us in Normandy. Less lugage to take. Drying area. Better beds. Kitchen reduced food bills which helped pay for the slight increase in cost.
Oh and socially made the evenings much better.
might not be a bad idea that. it did work well in normandy.

I think if you/the group are planning a longer stay then a chalet or two is a great idea again.

Also like the idea of incorporating the battle of the buldge or any obvious WW2 stuff if we are passing.

May be easier to gather a list of sites to visit ie top 10. Map them out and then work out either a central location to stay or two if it looks easier that way. Then we have areas to look for accommodation..

Only suggestions of course Brian as it's your baby this time 8-)

Ps

We mentioned at Normandy due to problems with euro brake down cover. Should we consider one of use bringing a recovery vehicle over to France/Belgium and leaving it at the docks. At the groups joint expense?

I like blitz's ps, euro cover looks good on paper but when needed, they look at the value of the machine/cost of getting it back. They don't like it when you point out they were quick enough to take your money, after taking out the policy. Also check on vehicle age restrictions.

Yes it's the age restriction that's the problem. I think we all had home cover but crappy expensive euro cover was unpopular. I'm sure the cost of a van or car trailer on the ferry split say 10 ways wouldn't add too much to our costs ?

Brian, have you ever had to claim on it. Most policy's have Euro cover as standard but its when your at the side of a French road, trying to persuade the guy on the phone your bike is worth more than £1500. If you ride an Armstrong forget it.

Also another thing that needs checking on a policy is whether you are brought back at the same time. Some will bring you back now but return your bike much later, as they use contractors to go round Europe collecting bikes.

an going to start a new thread for suggested places to visit. just add a reply with your ideas and ill update the list as and when. it may also be an idea to do some surfing for ideas on camp sites with cabins just to give an idea on what may be available.

Trying not to bugger up your other thread so

Problems
As Pirate said we need to know where we are coming from and where we are going.

Then we can plan a route and decide where to stay.

We need numbers.

Been having a look at chalets holiday let's etc but without a definite number of members going it's impossible to proceed.

I'm sure we can all find some good places to stay and booking early will give us a better choice.

I suggest a cut off date for members to say if they are coming so we as a group can proceed in booking accommodation??
