Great read. I did a similar tour last October, but went through Alps to Venice, then headed East to Slovenia, then up again to Prague. If anyone is going I really recommend the Furka Pass and Stevio Pass. MT500 more than adequet for touring. Never had a problem with the inlet hose (it was a heatwave last October), but reading others comments I don't tighten the clamps very tight.
