is the cam timing set corectly ?

Hi Dave, yes, checked it twice, also measured the low and high coil impedences, all OK, and checked the generator windings for the ignition bits, also OK.

Hi, We have an MT500 we bought last year, couldn't get it started, checked spark, plug gap, etc., tried bump starting as well but would not fire at all, not even a quick misfire. Took the Amal carb off and dismantled it to clean, found a few things wrong with it so we have bought a new Mikuni VM-32 ...

Update: On further investigation I've found that the nylon insert in the carb tube that enures the plunger is oriented correctly is worn away completely, so there is nothing to stop the plunger from rotating in the barrel. I do have the parts list, but this item is not listed unless it's part of the...

I've recently bought an MT500, the seller said there was a knack to starting and showed me what he does, although he couldn't get it running. I do believe it was running OK at some point before we bought it. Have now got it home, tried a number of 'recommended starting methods' and haven't had it f...
