Getting Started

Post by DerekJD » Sun Jul 07, 2019 9:30 am

I own a 1985 Mt500. I have mastered the cold start (just about) but the hot start usually ends up with having to bump start. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Derek,

Firstly welcome to the forum, lots of good info on here if you use the search engine using key words..

As for hot starting just open the throttle slightly so a bit more oxygen is there to help ignition. This works for me but not many bikes dentical!

A good carb strip and clean works wonders just remember how it came apart. Valve clearances will be worth checking and so will the valve timing. The engines will run a tooth out but causes all sorts of issues..

Good luck, if you get stuck just give us a call at Sportax..
