realistically you are going to need

a frame with a VIN plate and ,

either
the V5C registration document showing the VIN number
or the MOD654 release document if it hasn't been civilian registered

its going to be difficult , or maybe even not possible without that

The jawa owners club have the ability to officially date a frame and engine for the DVLA if no docs etc exist. Is this not something we can do?

Bunker used to be able to do this but the procedures were tightened up a few years ago so he can't do that now. I think many owners clubs were affected by this change in policy

Welcome to the forum. You have set yourself a challenge. It will be interesting to follow our experiences. You can start a new topic in one of the other sections.

Beware of a frame with no paperwork, it's probably been stolen and DVLA may trace it when you try and register.

If you do manage to build one from a collection of bits, you may need to register with a "Q" plate, if this is still possible. The evidence of the year of manufacture is the MOD release papers for ones not yet registered. The DVLA have tightened up a lot on just using a VIN plate. It may need a DVLE single vehicle inspection, but would then have to conform to current standards.

Some people are struggling to register complete bikes that have not been modified since release form the MOD without the MOD papers. At least the H-D MT350 does have a stamped number on the headstock which includes the year of manufacture.

These are easy bikes to strip and rebuild, so probably cheaper to get a knackered registered one and got it in good running condition.
