Evening All.
Registered last year when thinking of buying an MT. Time went on, didn't really find anything decent but have now just bought an MT 500 Having to re register due to lack activity on the forum.
First step to re read all the tips on starting! Starts first kick when it's warm so by a process of elimination will hopefully get the cold starting sorted before I do myself any damage. It sounds like no two are the same though.......

Hi Ade,

Welcome back to the forum! Great choice in MT!

If you're passing our workshop pop in and I'll pass on all the starting tips I used to teach the young soldiers back in my Army days! We can also check to make sure it is set up for easy starting too!

Welcome to the forum. I can't really help you with 500 starting , one owner used to carry a spare plug. He worked on the basis that if it didn't fire up after 4 kicks the plug would be wet so further attempts would be pointless Swapping to a fresh dry plug took no time at all and gave him 4 more attempts It did the trick !

Good luck

Yep! Just depends on how the carb was put back together, how the valve clearences were set and how the timing belt was fitted!
