Neutral light MT350
Neutral light MT350
My neutral light has suddenly stopped working. Ive removed the 5 light ‘panel’ hoping that the bulb may be at fault but its a sealed unit. When I put a volt meter over the two unplugged central contacts - its dead. Ive traced the wires back and can find no obvious faults. Is this a common problem and is there an equally simple answer without major work? I’m no mechanic and certainly no auto-electrician!
I can get a new light ‘panel’ for £70 (gulp!) but this seems a bit of a daft outlay if there’s no power going through with the ignition on in neutral.
Suggestions anyone??
Cheers.

I'd remove and check the switch Lardmarc has indicated. If you need to renew it , go to LMS Lichfield - there may also be other compatible neutral switches

Thanks everyone. Yes when i removed the sprocket cover - the cable was snapped and frayed. Ive ordered a new wire and switch for a few quid. Judging from the previous repairs to the wire - this looks like a common fault.
I’ll try the cable first but If the switch needs replacing - is this just a simple swap or will oil come pouring out? I have a manual but apart from acknowledging the existence of the switch, it barely gets a mention.
Thanks again
Dave

Of course.
Not my motor, it just happened to be on my kitchen floor without a sprocket cover.
Picture paints a thousand words.
Always first thing to check when neutral light fails.
It'll be the wire.

Hi, where is that hole? My neutral light does not work,I’ve replaced the 5 light cluster and still no job. I’m no mechanic so I can see the picture but no idea where that is on the bike? Cheers.

Yes just remove the sprocket cover from the nearside of the bike. You’ll see the wire running down in front of the sprocket (if fitted). It has a push fit connector. Follow it down to the switch which screws into the casing. Remove and replace as one unit with wire. I armoured mine up a bit with some heat shrink sleeve .

If you can't figure out where that is on a motorbike you're probably better off taking it to a garage for them to repair.
You'll only hurt yourself.
