I thought I'd start a thread about the things we get up to at Sportax regarding MT's. We often put posts on FB and thought they'd be worth sharing here.

So here's what we and the Team Sportax crew finished today!

We had a working weekend at Sportax to keep on top of things. Decided to do this unmolested MT500 which needed a new head and base gasket, new piston rings, new oil seals and gaskets throughout, new MK3 clutch, decoked head and valve lap, new Dellorto carb and general check over and service! Started first kick! Thanks to the Team Sportax chaps who lent a hand!







The picture above shows why the head gasket was leaking! MOD sub contracted engine rebuilds are some of the worst I've seen! With bits missing like this O ring brace. No gaskets for clutch and ignition covers, single lipped nitrile oil seals. Maybe thats why it leaked a bit of oil!

The road test was that much fun I went around twice!

Tomorrow we have a nice white Armstrong in for a few jobs..

Yesterday was all about ordering a few bits and pieces, Rob collected his refreshed Armstrong and checking out an MT500 engine which the owner said had no compression..
Here's what I found inside...



It gets even better..



No con rod no piston! That'll be why it's down on compression then!

Some bargains are not what they are cracked up to be! Not a lot we can do with this one as crank cases are damaged and oil pump is smashed..

I hope the owner paid a sufficiently low price for the non-runner to make up for an engine swap...

Today has been mainly about another Armstrong MT500. This one is a nice white example in for some Electric TLC.. New 3Ph Reg Rec, battery and a new rear tyre. Clutch also needed adjusting. All ready for an MOT and 12 months more fun for the owner!

Sheffield Parks had white bikes CV500 s

I'm sure I read recently of an old post saying that there were ex factory 25 white and 25 red for the army. I think it was Roy D who said that in his EOD unit, he had green , White and red MTs

We have had forum photos of MTs painted Black, Blue, Red, White, Polka dot, good and bad attempts at woodland camouflage. There is no 'right colour'
