MT 500 Canvass Panniers

Post by diggerdogk9 » Wed Jan 28, 2015 9:12 pm

As some of you may been aware i have been sourcing fabric to produce replacement panniers for the 500s As i understand its proving very difficult to find olive green bags that fit and look as they should.

The canvas that was used "originally" it would seem is no longer made or if it is i can't track it down as ive hit many brick walls

However ive been lucky enough with freinds in the trade to source a modern equivalent that is as close as it gets with the added bonus of waterproofing and fire retard properties and in olive green ! The sample i have received looks good and should tick all the boxes when made up.

As with any fabric the more you buy the better the price so i need a good idea of how many bags/pairs people would want
This way i can hopefully get a good deal for you all and come back with a fixed price.

Cheers Adam

Have you got a ball park figure on price depending upon quantity?

For me to get a good price on the fabric i would be looking for about 15 pairs of panniers ie 30 bags based on that with a bit of "arm twisting" with the supplier ;) .... Ball park figure about √ā¬£37 -√ā¬£40 per bag hope that helps

At this stage i just need to have a idea of demand as i can't afford to have expensive rolls of fabric sat on a rack with no purpose, much prefur to get what we need make it up no waste and every one happy

Do the canvas panniers mount to the US 500e or just the armstrongs?
