smoother running can be nothing but good for the bike,not sure about this pulling the flywheel thing but im sure i will learn. ;)

You need a flywheel puller tool. Buy beg steal or borrow etc.

I was thinking that this weight will not only give smoother running/torque characteristics but will ALSO add extra momentum to the 500 kick start routine, which should give a better follow through and so may partly help towards overcoming the big single reluctance to spin far enough with anything but a good technique/set up. All good!

I agree with Timelord but also for the added benefit that there will be less likelihood of stalling when chugging through the mire or up a gnarly North Walean hill.

Just something to be aware of Yoof, not all 500 motors have the second crankcase cutout to reroute the pickup wire. So some careful cutting/filing is required. I had to stop for my tea so haven't finished yet, I will let you know how it all went and what a great mod it is when I am done :D
