Side panel grommets

Post by LeoBlue » Tue Sep 29, 2020 5:21 pm

Found a great alternative for the standard/OEM side panel rubber grommets which I think are rather expensive (also fits tank rear grommet).
Wemoto part number AE3534. They are not an exact match size-wise (25mm OD x 10mm ID x 13mm wide), but are actually easier to fit as the diameter is smaller. Side panels fit perfectly into new grommets. Priced at £1.86 each, but obviously you have to pay P&P, which cost me just over £3.

Additionally, the smart move is to drill a small hole in the bottom edge of the panel and fit a ziptie loose enough to allow panel removal. This tethers the panel to the bike so you can't lose it, can easily be cut off if you need to remove the panel completely and can be replaced easily

I should also add that it's best not to stick a screwdriver into your hand when you're pushing out the old grommets!
