MT 500 Disk brake conversion.

Post by Chris213 » Tue Mar 13, 2018 6:09 pm

Evening all, I'm after doing a disk break conversion for my MT500 and was wondering if anyone had any MT350 brake bits they want rid of?

Cheers all

What bits are you looking for?
Are you trying to keep it OEM parts?
The only parts you really need is an MT350 front hub, brake disc, left fork leg, and caliper.
If you went for the oversized disc conversion then just the front hub and lower left fork leg are needed, the rest of the bits can be bought new and quite cheaply.

At the moment I'm looking for everything, I've heard about the 350 forks using up rated spring, I've found a set forks minus head unit, will the 350 forks fit the 500 head?
I'm also wondering if there's a brembo brake caliper that will fit?

The 350 forks will fit directly into the 500 yoke, the lower fork legs will also interchange with the 500 units.
The Brembo caliper will not fit onto the lower fork leg, as the bolt pattern and off set is different.
This is why I asked if you intend to keep it OEM, or if you intend to go for a larger disc?

We do this Brembo upgrade at Sportax - 300mm front disc and Brembo caliper and bracket made from thick sheet Aluminium.

This one has been on for around 5 years and done lots of arduous riding all over Europe! Does stoppies on tarmac and is very good off road with decent tyres!

350 forks have a longer damper rod inside - everything else is the same apart from the brake caliper mount!

Hi Gary,

Where do I find the 300mm disc, mounting plate and caliper upgrade for the MT350 on your website?

Disc and calipers are on eBay. You'll have to make the bracket yourself..
