WANTED! MT405 Rider

Post by Minter » Fri Sep 08, 2017 12:13 pm

Hello everyone!

Is there anyone out there with a Sportax 405cc motor and going to the Wye Valley Ride out?

The reason I ask is that I have a new carburettor to test on a 405 motor. It will involve some seat of the pants testing and comparisons to current Sportax set up.

Let me know if anyone out there can help...

Cheers

Gary

What sort of "seat of the pants testing" are you referring to?
If this testing is the morning after Pirate's BBQ then we'll all be at it!

Cheers Derrick, Phil has kindly offered his services.. in fact he was that keen to try he popped over yesterday and we fitted the test carb to his bike.

Initial results are encouraging hopefully Phil can up date us when he has done a free more miles...

Thanks to Gary I have a new Dellorto fitted and initial results look very good.
The carb appeared to work perfectly through the rev range and much more smoothly than the Mikuni.
There was a slight hesitance on initial opening of the throttle but Gary tried a couple of larger pilot jets and that seemed to sort it.
Had a good blast home and it was a delight to ride. :D
I was going to do another test ride yesterday but unfortunately my starter sprag has given up with a loud clacking noise.
So I am now stripping it to find out if I will get away with just a new spring.
