Hi, I’ve just joined the group with the hope of finding an MT. I was thinking of a 350 but really like the sound of your 500/560. What do you think the main differences are, power, fuel economy etc. Also where are you located re viewing the bike? Regards Dave

I always preferred the 500 over the 350 for these reasons:
1. I don't want to ride a Harley.
2. Although the claimed power output is the same, the 500 has plenty more bottom end grunt which I find much better when rock climbing and mud-plugging.
3. The 500 sits lower on shorter shocks which I prefer (although this 560 has the taller set-up).

The Harley is generally better for two main (and obvious) reasons:
1. Electric Start.
2. Disc front Brake.

So the ideal machine for most of us would be the 500 engine with the 350 starter and brake. Unfortunately these mods aren't simple and don't come cheap.
Over the years I have altered my original 500 to exactly this spec and I love it. The 560, if anything, is better sorted than my 500 but I'm not emotionally attached to the 560 and as I said, I personally prefer the lower seat on the 500.
There are two more powerful rotax engines that fit straight into the MT frame: The Aprilia 560 and the CCM 604. Both are getting hard to find, especially now they have become the favourites of the flat-track community. Everybody always wants more power.
I can't speak for any difference in fuel economy. It's something I've never measured. This is also affected by the final drive sprocket size. Most of us alter these depending on whether we are touring or green laning.
I am currently on the eastern edge of Castleford, not far from the A1/M62 interchange. Feel free to call me to discuss if you wish.

The bike that is up for sale here, is infinitely better than a standard 350.
