They Shall Not Grow Old - film

Post by Wirralman » Tue Oct 16, 2018 10:30 pm

I saw the film 'They Shall Not Grow Old' earlier, it was showing nationwide on tonight's premiere

For those that haven't heard of it WW1 silent black and white footage has been coloured, images cleaned up with sounds of veterans added It gives an insight into infantry life .

I think it might be shown on TV , Armistice day but can't be sure. A thought provoking and interesting film

I watched the making of 'They shall not grow old'. Puts a whole new perspective on the pictures/film we've all seen before. Impressive work.

Cant wait to see it. Makes you realise they were just the same as us. With a sense of humour that betrays the horrors they witnessed.

You may have to look hard to find a cinema showing it. There were quite a few places showing it on Tuesday most fully booked Today I can find only one place 10 miles away in one of the second tier cinemas.

Of especial interest to you Phil there was a row of tanks and a shot of one crossing a trench complete with 20 soldiers having a joy ride

Watched it at the cinema in Leicester at High Cross.
If you get the chance to see it on the big screen, do so. Probably one of the most thought provoking pieces of work on the Great War I think I have ever watched.
