Currency

Post by Wirralman » Sun May 12, 2019 4:44 pm

When I was a lad 1 pound had 20 shillings and they each had 12 pence

A dullard could be described as being
'Ninepence short of a shilling'

Nowadays the same dullard is described as
'A few French fries short of a Big Mac '

So, it seems that the currency of the day is not 'The pound sterling', rather a humble chip.😊
