Can-am air box

Post by Dibber777 » Fri Aug 11, 2017 8:16 pm

Just started stripping my recently purchased 79 can-am and found a strange looking insert in the air box :?: three small tubes inside one large tube with a mesh around it, simple question, what's it for ?

It's just part of the air box assembly. The
Foam filter goes on top.

It just pulls out and the filter stays in place , just wondering what it's function is. Is it some kind of restrictor ?

My guess is that someone is trying to smooth the airflow As to whether that would really be a good idea ??

Lots of MT350 airboxes have been cut, some would say modified implying some sort of benefit. I haven't seen any solid metrics to back up their theories and claims, only their 'feel', which is bound to be biased

Some have had the courage to say that they have returned their bikes to standard because the increased noise is irritating A few months ago a member posted a link to a website which explained why these home mods were not advisable

I am not sure what it does, but it's a standard part.
