Mt500 with 555 etc and electric start

Post by eca05rjc » Sun Jul 02, 2017 2:30 pm

Just finished fitting my new engine that has a 555 piston and 670 head (Dyno 53.8HP). Has the lovely addition of electric starter with it too which is a treat. Modified the frame to fit all. Lithium Ion battery fitted 10ah, 220cca starts in one turn.
Also modified the swing arm adding an extra 2.5 inch to it to help keep the front wheel down when i have my trailing sidecar on.
Few pics of the finished product, couple of tidying bits to do but for a trial run was excellent.
The swing arm mod makes it kind of ride like a limousine can feel the extra length but it handles v well.
As for the engine.....just pure power :D

Very nice. I'd very much like to do the 555 and electric start on mine. Which carburettor are you using?

Thanks
Can't take any credit for the engine tuning myself only the rest of it and getting it road worthy. Scarily fast as a solo but I predominantly use it as a trials sidecar so the extra power is definitely needed to pull the weight.
Was due a rebuild this year so this is just that little bit further and a few pennies more lol.
Engine was a few quid but rest was done at my own labouring for free.
Think the brakes might need uprating a tad

Almost the exact same set-up as my Armstrong, I'm running a 40mm Dellorto, with matching inlet, to help stop it I have a large GS disc and Bremen caliper fitted to the front.
Next mod is to fitted a skimmed and ported head with oversized valves.
