Sounds like a good day all round. Doing mx once a week should have the fitness covered! Result in the front ends being good from the off

I thought the forks would do the trick. Even though 33yr old parts , yz490 forks were about the best available then.
If the fox shocks sort the rear end, I will be needing more power (I've already got ccm604 engine to transplant) .

Well I've survived my 2nd motocross !
28yrs since I last rode (I was 14stone and 30yrs old then)
Put on a few stone and a few years since then.
We had a mad rush the day before to improve rear suspension ! Chopped off shock mounts and moved forward on swing arm and fitted fox air shocks. They still need a tweek or two, but so much better , the track had a lot of jumps and woops to contend with.
So once the aches and pains ease I will continue practising and make improvements to the brilliant MT.

Update! 604 rebuild/mods.
We are making good progress with the motocross mt's.
New racing season about to start, I've had engine out , stripped it down to just crankcase and internals.
Then popped down to see Gary at sportax (5hr journey)
had a chat and cuppa while Gary split crankcase , removed balance shafts and fitted new main bearings.
Engine back together and in frame again ready for test this weekend. While engine out I've fitted new oil seals etc and mt cases ( kicker 604 now). And have cured difficult starting by fitting mt 665 cam. Starts almost first kick hot or cold and ticks over .
Now starting on the next stage to make bike lighter !
I've just got a spare frame and it's getting all lugs chopped off. Modified subframe to take ktm 495 fuel tank and seat, and alloy swinging arm and ktm rear wheel.
I will post pictures as it develops.
