Thank you all very much for your kind thoughts, and there was I feeling lost and abandoned. ....
Had the first phase yesterday, where they inserted a tube in from behind the knee up to the clot - he said the artery was completely blocked. It is then drip fed through the night wit a clot busting drug. I have to go back down today for a scan, and I'd all goes well, it's gone and they can take it all out. Well, that's the plan....

Update: mission successful
So, still being kept in the high dependency ward over night for observation , but the procedure to dissolve the clots in the leg worked exceptionally well. Blood thinners to prescribed for the foreseeable future, and no more long rides with out breaks.
So, I'm sorry chaps, but I still can't make this weekend. Have a cider for me in the evening, and enjoy yourselves. I'm sure you will have a blast

Small update:
Had an MRI scan today to check the liver and other areas, they have a few bits, but nothing that requires surgery. The specialist said I will probably be on the blood thinners for the rest of my time, and as there is no reason for this to have happened, advises no more off-roading for me as one bad fall could finish me off. Looks like it's gentle road rides from here on. And I could be out of here by Monday
