New MT Rider

Post by CK1972 » Tue Sep 25, 2018 3:55 pm

Hi there,

my name is Christian from Germany. I'm aged 46 and bought a MT500 from a good friend a few days ago.
I just returned from the first ride and must say it's real fun driving this beast 8-)
It stood in a garage for a few years and needed new MOT ( TĂśV in Germany) which it passed without any problems.
Actually I'm digging through the manuals to get familar with the bike ( I already found out how to start it without sweating  ).
I already own some British Army stuff like a 90 Defender so the MT fits perfect in my collection- and I'm quite happy that I was
able to buy one as the MT500's are quite rare in Germany and don't show up often for sale :)

Cheers for know
Christian

Welcome to the forum Christian,

Great choice in MT! I rode an MT500 thousands of km around Germany in the late 80's early 90's!

Thank you all for the warm welcome :)
After my registration yesterday I already spent 3 hours reading posts about the carb and just ordered a kit to refurb my Amal MK2.
I'm always trying to keep everything as orignal as possible so I'll first try this way to improve the starting procedure.
Next thing will be a shopping list with bits and pieces 8-)
