Thanks for all your considered and helpful replies. I'm planning on riding through France, Italy, Sicily crossing to Tunisia to do a bit of Sahara-lite riding before going on to Algeria and Via Spain to Morocco for some more authentic piste riding. In 1997 I bought my MT500 direct from the army surplus auction. It had 1100km on the clock which I thought was a must be a mistake. I got it home and it wouldn't start.
